Help Needed with Configuring Audio Input on Daisy Seed

Hello there,

I recently acquired a Daisy Seed and I am excited to dive into its capabilities; particularly in setting up audio input for a project I am working on. I have been exploring the documentation and forums; but I could use some guidance from those with experience in configuring audio input on the Daisy Seed.

What are the recommended practices for setting up audio input on the Daisy Seed? Are there specific libraries or examples that illustrate this well?

Are there any specific considerations I should keep in mind regarding hardware setup for audio input, such as recommended microphones or preamp modules?

How can I effectively integrate audio input into my projects using the Daisy library? Are there any common pitfalls or challenges I should be aware of?

It would be immensely helpful if anyone could share their experiences or point me towards projects that showcase successful implementations of audio input on the Daisy Seed.

Also, I have gone through this post: https://forum.electro-smith.com/t/getting-started-read-the-missing-manual-a-guide-for-the-daisy-pod-devops/ which definitely helped me out a lot.

I am familiar with programming and have basic knowledge of DSP concepts; but I am new to embedded audio processing.

Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.

Welcome @samzyannn!!

Is your project going to be inputting a line-level signal (like from hardware synths)? If so, you don’t really need to worry too much about additional circuitry for the audio input pins.

If you’re creating a guitar pedal, then you would need to amplify the instrument-level signal of a guitar which is quieter than the line-level signal. Referencing the schematic of guitar pedal project like this one would be a good start.

As for headphone amp output, we recommend checking out the schematic for the Daisy Pod.
