Trouble Programming Seed No Device Found

I have been using the same setup for a couple of years, but today I am no longer able to flash my program to the seed. My program is building, but I am having issues with DFU I believe. I connect the seed to my computer and get power. From there I put the device into boot mode by pressing the RESET and BOOT buttons. At this point normally my computer will recognize a usb device, but it no longer does.

I have tried to reset the driver with Zadig, but when I list devices I don’t see DFU in FS Mode. I can still see my keyboard, mouse, etc. I have tried rebooting, switching cables, seeds, usb ports but nothing is working.

Any help is appreciated!

Background:

  • Windows 11
  • programming via USB/DFU in VScode and via web programmer
  • Error Message: “No DFU capable USB device available”

Maybe similar to the problem in thread below? The cause here was a conflicting driver using the same USB IDs as Daisy in DFU mode.

I did see that thread, but I am not sure I am having the same issue. In that case the user did see the device in the device manager and in Zadig. The error upon programming was “Cannot open DFU device 0483:df11“, but mine was “No DFU capable USB device available“.

I don’t see anything in the device manager or Zadig. The Seed is clearly powered and in boot mode, but my computer just does not see it. I did try to connect it to a different computer that does not have the toolchain and that also does not see the device.

I am not sure if that points to something external to my PC, but I did try multiple seeds and cables. Really stuck here.

I do have an ST Link that I have never gotten around to using. I might try that in the meantime.

Of course as soon as I posted again it magically started working. I found yet another cable and the computer does recognize the device with it. I am guessing most of the cables I have are for charging and not data transfer. I did reorganize my desk recently and must have mixed them up.

I did still have to reset the driver in Zadig, but that was no problem.
