Now that AKM has gone up in smoke, does anyone have the latest on future availability of the AK4556 (or any of their other CODECs)? I’m interested in building a 6-channel module, which in theory would require two AK4556s in addition to the Daisy Seed. Suggestions?

For multiple inputs/outputs more than 4, it’s probably better to use a codec with multiple I/Os.
I’m really not sure you could drive more than 2 codecs anyway with the daisy seed.
Having more than 2 channels means you can’t use I2S, but TDM is a good (and probably only practical) alternative. There is an initiative for that here on this forum with a cirrus logic chip with 6 inputs and 8 outputs.
