Sending data to Daisy Pod (or Seed)

Hello! I’m a complete beginner to microprocessors and have been looking at getting a daisy Pod to start messing with some audio (fairly proficient in cpp but not bare metal programming)

I was looking into sending data to the daisy to act as buttons (like if I send ‘d’ character, i can interpret it as button 3 or something like that). I’m not sure if I can do that out-of-the-box on a Daisy Pod? there’s 2 USB ports on it right? (one on the Pod and one on the Seed) I was wondering if I would be able to send & recieve this data from one of them and use the other for power?

I have a MIDI Piano but it doesn’t support TRS, only USB Midi to a PC. At first I was thinking to do this with MIDI (like Note 3 is button 4), but I have no idea how i can do this by routing the MIDI through a PC (and technically if I can do this, then I can probably do the earlier thing I mentioned too which would be better)

I wanted to ask if this is possible out of the box in a daisy pod? or I would need to add things myself, in which case should I just get a Seed instead and breadboard it?

Welcome!

Are you thinking about sending data from your PC to Daisy via USB?
If so, could you tell more about the project?
It’s sounding like you only need the audio output, so you could get the Pod which has audio jacks already connected for getting started right away. Or you can connect an audio jack to the Daisy Seed on a breadboard.

I just want to be able to emulate buttons without hooking up a ton of buttons

like I send a number to the Daisy from PC and I can read that number and do whatever I want with it. Kinda like MIDI input but I can process the input myself^

The audio part I can figure out!
