Power using Vin pin effecting audio quality

Recently I’ve been working on a new hardware project that incorporates a Daisy seed. Today I noticed that the audio quality when powering my seed using the Vin pin was washed out, almost reverby and very quiet. The problem completely goes away when powering over USB. Has anyone run into a problem like this or something similar before? Have I damaged my seed somewhere along the way?

Before today, I hadn’t done too many tests with audio but I am pretty sure this is a new problem (70% sure). I have used 2 separate power supplies, my DIY 5V power supply that I use for electronics projects and a 9V battery, and the problem was present with both power sources.

Here’s a recording of first, the audio when powered with a battery via the Vin pin, and then secondly, the audio when powered from the usb. I increased the volume of the first demo for comparison as it is a lot quieter than the latter. The problem does actually sounds like a nice reverb, but a completely unintentional one!

Just curious to see if anyone would have a clue what has gone wrong for me

I have powered my Daisy via the VIN pin before but I unfortunately haven’t ran into this issue.
To have one less variable, does the issue persist with like a simple sine tone beep?

It may be that the board was damaged somewhere along the way but I haven’t seen anybody else encounter this. It’s odd that the audio sounds reverb-y now.

I swapped in another daisy seed and the problem is still there so it must be something with my breadboarded circuit… No closer to working out what though :face_in_clouds:

I think I’ll just start again and move some stuff around. Thanks for the help regardless!
