Patch companion Eurorack modules

Hi all,

I have a Daisy patch coming and picking up a small 42HP case for it.

I was wondering what other modules would be recommended to have for a basic setup?

I was planning on getting a line-level I/O module to interface with some external gear I have, and maybe a guitar pedal FX send/receive module to use my freeze/looper/delay pedals, both from AI Synthesis.

But outside those two modules and an Electro-Smith ES 2144 LPF module I have, what are some essentials?

I wasn’t sure if I should get like a Quad VCA or a mixer, I have external mixers but wasn’t sure if I’m better off getting something meant for Eurorack and CV.

Any ideas would be great!
Thanks

Hi @koaps!

This sounds exciting
It really depends on your musical style and goal. Is your system going to be for effects or generative music?

Since the Patch is programmable, it could be fruitful to start out with the I/O modules and the Patch to see what’s fun. Do you enjoy using the Patch as a generative sequencer + oscillator going into your pedals? Or is it more fun to use the Patch as a programmable effects-unit for your external gears? You should then start to see what kind of modulation sources and utilities could be fun to add and such.

Btw, I watched this video recently and you may find it helpful!

Thanks Takumi, I’ll checkout the video!

I’m thinking something like this: https://imgur.com/3ojKruu

The heart is the Daisy patch which I initially plan to try a wavetable patch with it, I also have a daisy in a pedal format and a pod, why I have the I/O modules setup for stereo audio.

I have a bunch of midi/cv devices I can use (Trackers, Beatstep/Keystep, MPC, Microfreak, SQ-1) so the patch doesn’t need to generate stuff yet, but I wanted to get a nice thick analog sound on the output, why I was thinking of doubling the LPF so I can keep the stereo image from the pedals/effects returns.

Thanks

edited: that video gave me ideas, and I committed to the design in the image above, hopefully works out, thanks again Takumi!

You will need an output module to take the modular signal to headphones or audio interface.

Hi @dreamer,

I ended up getting a XOH (XOH – Make Noise Music) as the last module in the rack.

It will take two stereo eurorack level inputs and output either two sets of stereo line level outs or one stereo line level out and act as a headphone amp with soft clipping to protect your ears.

Ended up getting a buffered multiple and bubblesound reducer/booster modules to handle eurorack to line-level and line-level to eurorack conversions.

We’ll see how it goes after getting everything.
