Making a gift for a baby?

Hi all-- I’m totally new to Daisy and to this forum. I have a fairly simple project in mind, and I’m looking for feedback about whether something like the Daisy Seed would be a suitable “brain” for it. (I do have plenty of experience with Arduino.)

Basically, some friends of mine are expecting a baby, and I’d like to make them a gift. The idea is like a mobile for the baby’s crib that will have a speaker in it playing a recording of a long ambient loop I will have made. Ideally, there will be a couple big buttons or knobs for tweaking some parameters, and I’d like it to be self-contained (ie battery powered; rechargable would be ideal).

Would this be an appropriate use of Daisy? Or, being such a simple project, is it overkill? Anyone on here ever made something similar?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

You’re probably better off with arduino

Welcome! Sounds like a lovely gift

If you’re playing a recording of ambient loop, then it might be easier to get it working with Arduino, mp3 SD card player breakout board, and etc. I have done it before and it’s straightforward!

With the Daisy, you can do generative ambient and have more effects available.
You should be able to create generative ambient with DaisyDuino like with this project.

For battery, you can use one of those USB portable phone charger battery.
