I fried 3 Daisies in a row, powering from Eurorack 5v

So when I power my daisy from usb, everything is fine.
Working with usb AND eurorack 5v is also fine as it seems.

But when I only power from eurorack 5v, it dies after some time,
but will still work from usb power.

When the daisy starts to behave funny:

my program shows a welcome screen during the initilisations in int main.

after that, it switches to a realtime gui in the while loop.

but it only makes it to the welcome screen, then shows funny redraw errors, then the audio will drop out and thats it.

because it will keep on working when powered from usb, I thought I might have fried the onboard voltage regulator for Vin, but no, because there is none.

Vin is just added to usb power.

I think I resolved the issue. Eurorack 5v is not sufficient. my „fried“ daisys work fine on eurorack 12v, although getting pretty hot.

Vin is not added to USB. The diodes allow current to pass only from the one with higher voltage.

5v power on Eurorack is often non-existent, or just inadequate ( current available), so most modules derive +5 from 12v, or from + 24v between +12 and -12
