HothouseExamples updated with new examples and binaries

Hey folks. Just want to mention several new effects have been added to the official HothouseExamples GitHub repo for loading on the Cleveland Music Co. Hothouse pedal. And even if you don’t have a Hothouse, they might still be interesting: the code examples and README files are fully-commented for DSP learners and could easily be ported to your Funbox, Terrarium, etc.

This drop is a small collection of simple models of popular/iconic analog pedals:

  • Amnesia Delay - A BBD-style delay loosely-modeled on the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man.
  • EchoKing Tape Delay - A digital model of the Maestro Echoplex family of tape delay units. Three models are selectable: the EP-1 (tube, wonky vintage), the EP-2 (tube, classic warm), and the EP-3 (solid state, tight and focused). Obviously, this one implements a “pre-amp only” mode
  • Glowjob Photon Vibe - A reasonably accurate model of the original Shin-ei Uni-Vibe – the photocell phaser/chorus pedal made famous by Jimi Hendrix and Robin Trower. I might be more proud of the name than I am of the effect.
  • TriPhase Theorem - Sorta authentic digital models of three iconic 1970s analog phase shifter pedals in a single effect, switchable in real time: EHX Small Stone, MXR Phase 90 (earlier script version) and the MXR Phase 45.

These are not authorized or endorsed in any way by Gibson, Maestro, EHX, Shin-ei, or MXR. They are just a few of the various learning experiments I’ve been working on over many rainy weekends … and maybe a bottle or two of bourbon :tumbler_glass: But I thought these four are decent enough to share. And, as always, the examples all make heavy use of DaisySP.

git pull, compile and flash as you normally would, or you can use the Daisy Programmer to load any of the binaries from the pre-compiled release. If you find bugs, please report them or submit a PR :raising_hands: Cheers for reading this far!

Awesome set of new effects! Thank you so much for sharing!

I don’t have a Daisy-based pedal at the moment but would love to hear these in action :man_bowing:

Thanks @Takumi_Ogata. I really should do some sound demos one of these days. These really do sound excellent, IMO. In particular, the EchoKing and the Glowjob.

On another note, today I published a DFU programmer tool similar to the Daisy Programmer, but specifically targeting the Hothouse platform: the Hothouse Flasher. Screen grabs and brief write-up here.

For a Hothouse tinkerer, it can’t get much easier. The flasher code is also open source, for anyone interested. Just like the hardware itself.
