CNY70 as breath sensor

Hello!

Does anyone have experience using a CNY70 as a breath controller, like the setup shown in this video?

I connected the sensor as demonstrated and I’m receiving data in PlugData, but daisy seed seems to be heating up slightly and there’s quite a lot of noise.

I’ve come across another wiring diagram for the CNY70 and I’m wondering whether the resistor should be connected to ground instead.

This is also how Takumi wires it in his light sensor video.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think the second one (with both resistors going to ground) is better, as no light == no signal. Though using 5 volts could cause A0 to exceed the 3.3 pin limit, so you should test it with the max brightness. If it does exceed, you could use a resistor divider for A0.

The Daisy always gets a bit warm, is it warmer than when you don’t have this connected?

Thanks for the reply. I’ll try the second wiring option. I haven’t noticed the Seeed getting as hot as it does when the sensor is connected. Currently, I have six buttons and the sensor connected to it.
