I found this little gadget useful when connecting the STLink cable.
Nothing fancy, but 3d-model (.stl file) is attached if you’d like to make one yourself.

It looks like this will make it easier to know which direction to insert!
Haha, you can actually turn the whole thing the wrong way around -so it doesn’t help to get the direction right (room for improvement?).
But, provided you have the guide properly oriented, at least you get the pins/sockets correctly aligned.
